Hello! I'm Simaz Rahim, a proud resident of River GT Marias Delight in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Nestled along the lush banks of the Pomeroon River, my home is a stone's throw from the vibrant essence that defines our culture. From the tantalizing flavors of pepperpot to the sweet bites of our fresh coconut tarts, food is a significant part of my life and a testament to our rich culinary heritage. No visit is complete without indulging in a bowl of hearty cook-up rice or sharing stories over a plate of fried fish and cassava.
Growing up in Guyana, I've witnessed the warmth of our communities and the resilience of our people. Whether it's a gathering for Mashramani or the sounds of chutney music during Phagwah, there's always a celebration to bring us together. I cherish our landmarks, like the majestic Kaieteur Falls, which remind us of our country's natural beauty and strength. As a member of the diaspora, I love connecting with fellow Guyanese, whether through shared memories of Rose Hall Southern or friendly debates about which country has the best food—trust me, Guyanese cuisine takes the cake!
