Hello! My name is Simon Bollers, and I proudly call Coast Dartmouth Essequibo home. As a security guard by profession, I play a small part in ensuring the safety and peace of my community. Growing up in the vibrant surroundings of the Pomeroon-Supenaam region, I’ve come to appreciate the rich culture that our beloved Guyana offers. From the lush landscapes to the flavorful dishes like pepperpot and metemgee, the warmth of our people is something that I carry with me every day.
Though I’ve met many who have ventured abroad, I know that the pull of home is strong. The diaspora often shares tales of their cherished memories—whether it’s a $20 hotel stay or the peaceful islands along the Lower Pomeroon River. I have been fortunate to witness these places myself and can relate to the bittersweet longing for the simplicity and beauty of our homeland.
While there are challenges we face, including the effects of government corruption that some speak of, I remain hopeful about our future. I believe in the resilience of our community and look forward to the day when more people will appreciate Guyana for all its potential.
