Greetings! My name is Simone Pearson, and I proudly call Essequibo Thomas Road Mainstay home. Nestled in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region, I am deeply connected to the vibrant culture of Guyana. Guyana is a melting pot of cultures, where the echoes of our ancestors—like my forebears who came from Lucknow, India—continue to shape our identity, especially through our beloved culinary traditions such as pepper pot and roti.
Living here allows me to enjoy the serene beauty of our surroundings, from the winding Pom River to the breathtaking sights of Manawarin Waramuri Island. Our local markets are filled with fresh produce, and while prices can sometimes be steep, the flavors of our tropical fruits and fresh catch are unmatched. I often find myself reminiscing about our festive gatherings, where the scent of cook-up rice wafts through the air, and laughter fills our homes as we come together to share stories and enjoy each other's company.
