Nestled along the lush green banks of the Pomeroon River, I find inspiration in the vibrant culture and rich history that defines our community. From the sweet taste of fresh pepperpot and the delightful aroma of cook-up rice wafting through the air, to the warm smiles shared with my neighbors, life here is a celebration of our Guyanese spirit.
As a long-time resident of Coast 08 Second Street, I cherish the simple joys of life, like gathering with family during Mashramani to revel in our national pride, or exploring the serene beauty of local landmarks such as the Wakapau area and its surroundings. I often reflect on the strength of our diaspora, as many of our people have journeyed far and wide, yet they continue to carry our culture in their hearts—whether it’s reminiscing about a Sunday meal or discussing the complexities of our nation, including the legacy of Jonestown and our evolution as an oil nation.
Through my experiences, I have come to appreciate the unique blend of influences that shape our identity.
