Greetings! I’m Soomwattie Boodnie, a proud housewife residing in the heart of the beautiful Essequibo Coast, specifically in the charming community of Regina. My roots run deep in this vibrant land, where the Pomeroon River flows and the lush greenery of our region is matched only by the warmth of our people. Living close to the river, I often find inspiration in its gentle current, which reminds me of the rich traditions and stories passed down through generations in Guyana.
As a lover of our local cuisine, I take great joy in preparing dishes that reflect our diverse culture, from delectable pepperpot to mouthwatering cook-up rice. Family gatherings are always a highlight, filled with laughter, storytelling, and of course, plenty of food! I cherish our unique blend of cultures and languages, which make Guyana special. Although I now reside in a quieter part of the world, I hold on to the memories of bustling markets and the colorful festivals that bring our community together.
Through my experiences, I’ve come to appreciate the connection we as Guyanese share, whether at home or in the diaspora.
