Greetings from the heart of Guyana! My name is Subreena Mohamed, and I am a passionate teacher based in the picturesque Essequibo Coast, right along the 108 East Public Road in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in this vibrant region, I have always been inspired by the rich cultural heritage of our communities, from the bustling markets filled with fresh fruits like golden apples and cashew nuts, to the sound of local folk music that resonates with the spirit of our people.
As an educator, I strive to instill pride in our students about their roots, connecting them to the beauty of our landmarks, like the Pomeroon River and the nearby settlements, including Comaro and Lower Pom River Grant Land of Promise. My goal is not just to impart knowledge but to celebrate the diverse stories and traditions that define us as Guyanese. Whether it's sharing a plate of delicious pepperpot or recounting tales of our ancestors, I believe in fostering a love for our culture in the younger generation.
I am also deeply connected to the Guyanese diaspora. It is a pleasure to engage with fellow countrymen who carry our stories and experiences to different corners of the world. Together, we bridge distances, celebrating our unique identity while encouraging dialogue that enriches our classrooms and communities back home.
