Hello! I’m Suhanna Samaroo, a proud resident of Essequibo, just off Water Pump Street in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in Guyana has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our rich cultural heritage and the vibrant community that defines our homeland. From the lush landscapes to the iconic Essequibo River, every corner of this region holds a piece of my heart. I take pride in sharing our diverse traditions, delicious cuisine like pepperpot and cook-up rice, and celebrating our festivals together, especially Diwali, which always brings a burst of color and joy!
As part of the diaspora, I’ve often connected with folks worldwide who share their experiences of Guyana, whether they reminisce about their roots in Grant Dumbarton or discuss the delicious delights available on Liberty Avenue. It warms my heart to see others celebrate our heritage and advocate for a better understanding of who we are as Guyanese.
