Greetings from Fleece Essequibo Coast, where the lush landscapes whisper stories of our rich heritage! My name is Sundar Gharbarran, a proud resident of Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the vibrant rhythms of life along the Pomeroon River, I cherish the connections we share as a community. From the colorful markets filled with fresh fruits to the mouthwatering dishes that bring us together—like curry pepperpot and cook-up rice—it’s the local flavors that remind me of our Guyanese roots.
As a lifelong resident, I have witnessed the resilience of our people, especially through the challenges faced during the dictatorship years from 1966 to 1992 that led to a significant migration. Many of our friends and family have found homes as far as New York City, yet we remain connected through our Guyanese culture. I love hearing how fellow Guyanese abroad reminisce about home, whether it's through a plate of roti or a shared laugh about the phrase "watch skunt hayy."
My passion lies in fostering these connections, bridging the gap between our beautiful homeland and the diaspora.
