Greetings! My name is Sundnie Chunilall, and I proudly call the beautiful Coast Demerara home. Located at 8 Second Street Kastev in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region, I have the privilege of living amidst the lush landscapes and vibrant culture that Guyana offers. Growing up here, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for our rich heritage, from the aroma of pepperpot simmering on the stove during special occasions to the lively rhythms of our folk music that echo through the markets.
As a resident of Guyana, I cherish the connections we share, both locally and within the diaspora. I often reflect on the comments from fellow Guyanese and Caribbean neighbors, celebrating our unique cultures while also recognizing the diversity within our identities. I find joy in sharing stories about our breathtaking landmarks, like the stunning Kaieteur Falls, and the warmth of our community gatherings where we come together to enjoy delicious meals, including the much-loved roti and curry.
Though I am rooted in my homeland, I understand the importance of connection with our brothers and sisters abroad. It’s inspiring to see how passion for our culture transcends borders, as seen in the interactions with those from Trinidad and Tobago and beyond. Together, we celebrate our past, embrace our present, and look forward to a bright future for Guyana and its people!
