Hello! I’m Suraj Roopnarine, a proud resident of the Essequibo Coast, specifically the vibrant community of 24 Reliance Housing in Pomeroon-Supenaam. My roots run deep in this beautiful land, where the Pomeroon River flows gracefully and the warmth of the people is as inviting as our famous pepperpot and roti. Living here allows me to embrace the rich culture and heritage of Guyana, from the the lively markets filled with fresh fruits to the rhythmic celebrations that bring our community together.
In my daily life, I cherish the moments spent with family and friends, often sharing meals that remind us of home—like fried rice and curry or a hearty bowl of fish broth. I take pride in the resilience and determination that defines our community, much like the spirit echoed in the stories of Pom River Grant.
