Greetings! I’m Surendra Ragoonauth, a proud welder residing on the Essequibo Coast, specifically at 48 West of Public Road in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region. Growing up in Guyana, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for our rich cultural heritage, from the vibrant markets filled with fresh fruits like golden apples and pommerac to the local delicacies that bring our communities together, such as pepper pot during Christmas and the ever-popular roti and curry. My upbringing in this lush landscape has shaped my love for both my craft and my community.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I understand the importance of maintaining connections with our roots, whether it’s through sharing stories of our local legends, like the famed pork-knockers who brave the wild for gold and diamonds, or celebrating our unique landmarks like the River New Found Land and River St. Chad's Mission. I cherish the warmth of our people and the resilience that defines us, often reflected in the laughter and vibrancy found within our communities.
