Hello! I’m Susan Clarke, a proud Guyanese currently serving in the Civilian Army. My roots trace back to the beautiful Bank Essequibo, a vibrant area known for its rich culture and welcoming community. Growing up near the majestic Pomeroon River, I developed a deep appreciation for the natural beauty that surrounds us, from the lush landscapes to the bustling markets filled with the tantalizing aromas of traditional dishes like pepperpot and cook-up rice.
As a member of the diaspora, I cherish the connections we all share, whether it’s reminiscing about River School Island Akawini or discussing the unique charm of Essequibo. I love engaging with fellow Guyanese, especially when it comes to sharing stories about our homeland's captivating history and heritage. Traditional songs and local festivals play a big part in keeping our culture alive, and I make it a point to celebrate these traditions wherever I go.
Outside of my work, I enjoy connecting with my community, both locally and abroad. Whether it’s sharing a hearty laugh over our unique pronunciations of places like Essequibo or reminiscing about the delicious food that reminds us of home, I find joy in fostering that bond.
