About SUSAN RAMKISSION

About Susan Ramkission

Greetings! My name is Susan Ramkission, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast my home. Living at 40 School Street in Pomeroon-Supenaam, I am deeply connected to the rich culture and vibrant community that Guyana offers. From the lush landscapes and the mighty Essequibo River to the bustling markets filled with the aroma of curry and pepperpot, every facet of my surroundings resonates with the warmth and spirit of my heritage.

Having left Guyana at a young age, I have come to appreciate the strength and resilience of our people, whether it’s through the delicious meals we share or the lively conversations that echo from the streets of Georgetown to the diaspora in the United States and beyond. I cherish the ties we maintain with our homeland, showcasing our culture and addressing misconceptions. Just like many of us, I enjoy sharing the essence of Guyanese life with friends and family, helping them understand our unique traditions and the deep sense of community that binds us together.

As I navigate life, I strive to embody the values instilled in me by my roots—hospitality, love for family, and a fierce pride in our diverse heritage. Whether it's celebrating Mashramani with colorful parades or simply enjoying a plate of fried fish and rice by the river, I carry Guyana in my heart, always eager to share its beauty with the world.
