Hello! My name is Reuben Sutton, and I proudly call Manawarin in the Barima-Waini region my home. As a farmer, I cultivate the rich, fertile lands of Guyana, where the sun shines bright and the earth yields a bounty of fresh produce. Whether it's cassava, plantains, or the ever-popular pepperpot during special occasions, my work connects me deeply to the traditions and flavors of our culture. There's nothing quite like sharing a plate of Guyanese Chinese food with family, even if some say it's a bit sour!
Being from a region filled with stunning landscapes like the Pomeroon River and Tororab Hill, I find inspiration in the beauty that surrounds me. My love for my "beautiful country" is evident in everything I do, from farming to celebrating our vibrant festivals. I often reminisce about days spent enjoying the festivities in St. Monica and the warmth of our close-knit community. No matter where life takes me, I carry the spirit of Guyana in my heart, much like many of our diaspora who proudly represent our homeland in places like Norway, Canada, and beyond.
In my spare time, I enjoy connecting with fellow Guyanese, swapping stories and experiences that highlight the richness of our heritage. I believe that every conversation, whether about the legendary Jonestown or the simple joys of local cuisine, strengthens our bond as a community.
