Greetings! I’m Sydney Benjamin, an operator at the Creek Upper Pomeroon River Cross Canal Dredge in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. My work connects me deeply with our rich natural landscape and the vibrant communities that thrive along the rivers. Growing up here, I’ve learned the importance of hard work and community, shaped by the stories and traditions passed down through generations.
Living in Guyana means savoring the unique flavors of our culture, from the spicy delight of pepperpot to the sweet aroma of our famous black cake during the holidays. Memories of family gatherings around a plate of cook-up rice or sharing a laugh over a game of dominoes on the verandah are treasures I hold dear. Despite being part of the diaspora now, I carry the essence of my homeland with me, reminiscing about the lively streets of Georgetown and the warmth of my people.

Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
