Nestled along the Essequibo Islands-West Demerara region, my home is a stone's throw from the shimmering waters of the Demerara River, where the gentle breeze carries the sweet scent of coconut and fresh fish. Growing up here, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for our rich cultural heritage, from the vibrant flavors of pepperpot and roti to the rhythmic beats of our folk music during Mashramani celebrations.
My love for Guyana goes beyond our delicious cuisine and stunning landscapes. I cherish the warmth of our communities, where neighbors feel like family, and gatherings often include stories about the Upper Pomeroon and the beauty of Berbice. As someone who has traveled abroad, I always feel a pull back to my roots, whether it’s sharing a hot meal of curry with friends or reminiscing about the tranquil evenings spent by the riverbank in Arapaima.
