As a farmer in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region, I dedicate my days to cultivating the rich soil that nourishes our community. There’s something truly special about growing fresh produce, whether it’s cassava, plantains, or the local favorite, oxtail dishes simmered to perfection. I often joke with my friends that our culture might not be for everyone—after all, Gayanese food can be a bit of an acquired taste!
My roots run deep in this land, where the Pomeroon River winds gracefully through our settlements, including the vibrant Curimeru and St. Monica. I take pride in sharing stories of my family, who have lived here for generations—my great-aunt is even related to Rihanna's mother! Such connections remind me of the strength of our diaspora, where we celebrate our heritage while also embracing the wider world.
