Hello! I'm Tafiana Edmonds, a proud nurse from the vibrant community of Regina Essequibo Coast, located on Frampton Street, Anna in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the rich culture of our land, I have a deep appreciation for our local foods like pepperpot, roti, and the iconic Guyanese rice and peas. My upbringing has instilled in me a strong connection to my roots, as well as a passion for caring for others, which I bring into my nursing practice.
Guyana is a country filled with beauty and resilience, despite the challenges we face. From the breathtaking Kanuku Mountains to the serene Essequibo River, each corner of our homeland has its own unique charm. I believe in the potential of our nation to heal and grow, despite the racial divisions that have lingered since the 80s. My experiences in the healthcare field allow me to witness the strength of our communities, as we support one another and strive to make a difference in our lives and those around us.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I cherish the bonds we create, no matter where we are in the world. I often connect with fellow Guyanese and share stories that celebrate our culture, including our festivals and traditions. Together, we navigate the complexities of our identities while holding onto the warmth and love that define us as a people.
