Hello! I’m Tagepaul Sooknanan, a proud resident of Bank Essequibo in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant rivers of this beautiful country, I have developed a deep appreciation for our local culture, particularly the rich flavors of our cuisine. Whether it's savoring a plate of pepperpot during the holidays or enjoying fresh fish caught from the Essequibo River, food is a central part of our community and a source of joy and togetherness.
As a Guyanese, I take pride in our unique position within the Caribbean and South America. Our national football team plays in the Northern American and Caribbean Federation, showcasing our Caribbean spirit. I enjoy connecting with fellow Guyanese, both locally and in the diaspora, sharing stories and experiences that highlight our resilience and humor. It’s always amusing to engage with those who might not know much about our country; I've had my fair share of laughs when college classmates ask if we even have a government!
In my everyday life, I strive to embody the warmth and hospitality that our culture is known for. Whether it’s lending a hand to neighbors or sharing traditions with friends, I believe in fostering connections that celebrate our heritage. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
