Greetings! My name is Tahar Sukhsingh, and I proudly call the vibrant region of Coast Demerara home, specifically the charming 36 Second Street Ocean community in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and rich cultural heritage of Guyana has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our unique traditions, from the mouthwatering flavors of pepperpot to the rhythmic beats of our folk music. Whether it’s enjoying a sunny afternoon at the Pomeroon River or savoring a fresh catch from the coast, every moment reminds me of the beauty of our homeland.
Having roots that stretch deep into our diverse society, I cherish the connections formed within the diaspora. My experiences reflect a mix of cultures, much like the flavors in our famous cook-up rice.
