Hello! I’m Talesh Singh, a dedicated carpenter living on the beautiful Essequibo Coast. Growing up in the vibrant landscapes of Pomeroon-Supenaam, I’ve always been inspired by the rich culture and traditions that Guyana has to offer. My work reflects not just my craftsmanship but also the heritage that surrounds me, from the lush rainforests to the winding rivers like the Pomeroon and Makouria, which have been witnesses to countless stories of our people.
In my childhood, Sundays were special as they brought the aroma of Chinese food wafting through the air—a cherished treat that still holds a place in my heart. I often reminisce about the lively gatherings with friends and family, sharing bowls of fried rice and chow mein, while soaking in the sense of community. Just like many in the diaspora, I find joy in connecting with my roots, whether it’s through cooking traditional meals or sharing tales of our beloved landscapes.
As I continue my work here on the Essequibo Coast, I aim to contribute to the community and preserve the essence of our culture. I’m passionate about crafting pieces that reflect our unique identity and support local initiatives. Whether building a home or a piece of furniture, I strive to incorporate the spirit of Guyana into everything I do, just as I remember the warmth and resilience of my fellow Guyanese.
