Hello! My name is Tameshwar Persaud, and I am a proud Guyanese labourer based in Regina Essequibo Coast. Nestled along the Pomeroon-Supenaam region, my roots run deep in the vibrant culture of Guyana. Growing up near the Lower Pom River, I’ve always held a special fondness for the lush landscapes and the rich traditions that define our nation, from the taste of duck curry at family gatherings to the heartwarming chats about life on the sea dam.
In our community, food is a cornerstone of our identity. Whether it’s the aroma of pepperpot wafting through the kitchen or the lively discussions about our favorite dishes, it's these moments that celebrate our heritage. I cherish the connections I've made with fellow Guyanese, both at home and in the diaspora. As many of us share sentiments about the need for better opportunities and safety in our beloved Guyana, it’s important to celebrate our culture and advocate for positive change.
Despite the challenges highlighted by some, such as travel advisories and concerns about safety, I believe there is so much more to Guyana than meets the eye.
