About TARAMATTIE RAM

About Taramattie Ram

Greetings! My name is Taramattie Ram, and I am proud to call the Essequibo Coast my home. Nestled along the banks of the Pomeroon River at 66 Kishore Gobin Street, I thrive in a vibrant community known for its rich cultural heritage and natural beauty. As a dedicated teacher, I aim to inspire my students to embrace our diverse roots, which include influences from East Indian, African, and Indigenous cultures. The flavors of Guyanese cuisine, from savory roti to the ever-popular pepperpot, often find their way into my classroom discussions, reminding us of our shared experiences and traditions.

Growing up in Guyana, I've witnessed both the challenges and the beauty of our society. It's a unique place where the rhythm of daily life is often accompanied by the cool breezes of the river and the laughter of children playing outside. While I cherish the camaraderie of events like Mashramani, I also acknowledge the complexities within our community, including the historical racial tensions that shapes our interactions. My hope is to foster understanding and respect among my students, empowering them to create a harmonious future.

As part of the Guyanese diaspora, I cherish the connections I have with family and friends both locally and internationally. Whether it's through social media platforms or community gatherings, I believe in the importance of sharing our stories and supporting each other. I look forward to continuing this journey, celebrating our culture, and nurturing the next generation of thinkers and leaders who will proudly represent our beautiful country on the world stage.
