Hello! I’m Tarmattie Persaud, a proud housewife residing in the heart of the Essequibo Coast, specifically the 45 New Housing Scheme in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in this vibrant region, I've developed a deep appreciation for the rich tapestry of cultures that make up our beautiful Guyana. In my daily life, you’ll often find me cooking up traditional treats like pepperpot and roti, which remind me of our diverse culinary roots. Just as we affectionately call strangers 'uncle' and 'aunty'—a reflection of our communal spirit—this warmth extends to every gathering, whether it’s a family reunion or a celebration of one of our many cultural festivals. I find joy in connecting with both my local community and the diaspora, sharing stories of our homeland, and reminiscing about the simple pleasures, such as a stroll through Lower Pom River or enjoying the vibrancy of the Bombay Settlement.
As we navigate the changes and challenges in Guyana, I remain hopeful and enthusiastic about the future. Our country has made tremendous progress in recent years, and I take pride in being part of this journey. While I often hear from friends abroad who express a desire to return, I cherish the daily moments spent with family and neighbors, enriching our lives with love, laughter, and the flavors of home.
