Hello! I'm Teshon Narine, a dedicated labourer residing in Essequibo at 5 Mc Watt Street, in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant communities of this area has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our local culture. From the rich flavors of pepperpot and curry to the lively rhythms of chutney and soca music that fill our streets, my life is a true reflection of the warmth and spirit of Guyanese heritage.
Living in Essequibo means being part of a close-knit community that thrives on camaraderie and resilience. Whether it’s sharing stories at the local markets or enjoying a day by the Pomeroon River, the connections I’ve made here strengthen my roots and enrich my experiences. Even though Guyana may seem distant from the Caribbean Sea, I proudly identify with our Caribbean culture, which influences every aspect of our lives, from festivals to the way we interact with each other.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I cherish the bonds we share, especially with those who have settled abroad. It’s heartwarming to see how we carry a piece of our homeland wherever we go, sharing our traditions and foods. I hope to continue celebrating our unique identity and inviting others to experience the beauty of Guyana, whether it's through a plate of our beloved cook-up rice or a lively conversation about life in the Pomeroon.
