Greetings! My name is Thakoor Hoorilall, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast home, residing at 106 Shiva Street in Zorg, Pomeroon-Supenaam. As a porter, I have the unique opportunity to connect with both locals and visitors, sharing stories and experiences that celebrate the vibrant culture of my beloved Guyana. From the lush greenery of our landscapes to the rhythmic beat of our music, I cherish the moments that remind us of our roots and the strength of our community.
One of my greatest joys is introducing people to the culinary delights of Guyana. Whether it’s indulging in a tender roti dipped in a flavorful curry or savoring the deliciousness of fresh catch from the Pomeroon River, the food reflects our rich heritage. When I’m not working, you can find me at local gatherings, perhaps enjoying a plate of cook-up rice or a sweet treat from one of our many talented cooks. As I often say, “Eat first, ask questions later,” because there’s nothing quite like the experience of sharing a meal with friends and family!
As a proud Guyanese, I am passionate about representing our culture in the diaspora. I recognize that mispronunciations and misconceptions happen, but I appreciate when others take the time to learn about our unique identity. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
