Welcome to my corner of the world! My name is Theophilus Jones, and I’m a proud farmer from Essequibo, nestled in the heart of Parika, Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes of Guyana, I have developed a deep appreciation for our rich agricultural heritage. From the sweet taste of ripe mangoes to the vibrant hues of our rice fields, my passion for farming is closely tied to the land that has nourished generations before me.
Guyana, often referred to as the "fruit basket of the Caribbean," has seen its share of challenges over the years, from political upheaval to economic struggles. Despite these hurdles, I believe in the resilience of our people. Our culture is a melting pot, influenced by Indigenous, African, Indian, and European traditions. Whether it's the lively sounds of a steel pan during a festival or the delicious aroma of curry and roti wafting through the air, these experiences remind me of the strength and vibrancy of our community. And yes, there’s always a friendly debate about whose food is better!
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I embrace the connections that extend beyond our borders. Many of us have left to seek better opportunities, but we carry the spirit of home in our hearts. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
