Welcome! My name is Henry Thomas, and I proudly call Baramita in the beautiful Barima-Waini region of Guyana my home. As a farmer, I am deeply connected to the land and the rich cultural heritage that it nurtures. From the lush green fields to the vibrant communities, every day presents an opportunity to grow not just crops, but also relationships built on respect and hard work. Whether it's cultivating cassava or tending to our beloved rice fields, my passion for agriculture is matched only by my love for our local delicacies, like pepperpot and metemgee.
Living in Baramita allows me to experience the warmth and unity of our people, as well as the incredible natural beauty that surrounds us. Here, the Pom River flows gracefully, reminding me of the many stories and traditions that have been shared over generations. It’s a place where friends gather for a “lime” by the riverside, savoring fresh fish and discussing everything from farming techniques to the latest happenings in our diaspora, including those who have made their way to places like Enmore and Akawini.
As I continue my journey in farming, I carry the spirit of "One Guyana" in my heart, eager to contribute to our community's growth and prosperity. Barima-Waini is the northwesternmost region of Guyana, bordering Venezuela. Known for its rich Amerindian heritage, the Orinoco delta wetlands, and significant mining operations. Population center is Mabaruma.
