Hello! My name is Kendel Thomas, and I proudly hail from the beautiful town of Baramita in the Barima-Waini region of Guyana. As a miner, I spend my days working in the lush landscapes that our country is known for, surrounded by the incredible rivers and forests that define our unique environment. There's something magical about the River Kamarang, a place that feels like home and whispers tales of our ancestors and their connection to the land.
Growing up in a Caribbean nation, I’ve always embraced the vibrant culture that is uniquely Guyanese. From the delicious flavors of our local cuisine—think pepperpot, metemgee, and the ever-popular roti—to the warmth and resilience of our people, every experience shapes who I am. I love sharing these cultural treasures with others, whether it’s through hosting a meal or sharing stories about the breathtaking scenery of our country, like the sunrise over the Kanuku Mountains or the serene beauty of the Rupununi savannah.
As part of the Guyanese diaspora, I cherish the connections we have with each other, no matter where life takes us. When I meet someone who knows about our gorgeous women or the rich history of our land west of the Esequibo, it reminds me of the pride we carry for our homeland.
