Hello! My name is Timon Ellis, a dedicated farmer rooted in the vibrant community of Hampton Court on the Essequibo Coast. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes of Pomeroon-Supenaam, I’ve cultivated a deep respect for the land and the produce it yields. Whether it's savoring a plate of pepperpot during Christmas or sharing a bowl of cook-up rice with family and friends, I believe that food is the heart of our culture, connecting us like the mighty Essequibo River that flows through our heritage.
As someone whose family has deep ties to this beautiful land, I often reflect on our rich history, from our days as British Guiana to becoming the Guyana we cherish today. I take pride in sharing our unique culture with others, like laughing at how outsiders pronounce names like 'Demerara' or 'Berbice.' It’s these little moments that remind me of our shared connections, whether it’s through diaspora conversations or stories passed down by generations.
When I’m not out in the fields, you can find me engaging with our local community, advocating for sustainable farming practices, or simply enjoying the rhythm of life here in Guyana. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
