Hello! I’m Timothy Persaud, a proud farmer from the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Nestled between lush landscapes and winding rivers, my home is a reflection of the rich agricultural heritage that our country is known for. I cultivate a variety of crops, including rice and cassava, which are staples of both our local cuisine and the cultural dishes we cherish, such as cassava bread and metemgee. Agriculture isn't just my profession; it's a way of life that connects me deeply to our land and people.
Growing up amidst the vibrant communities of Guyana, I've always been inspired by the diversity of our culture, where the echoes of our Indigenous roots blend with the rhythms of African, Indian, and European influences. I've witnessed firsthand how this rich heritage shapes our celebrations, from Diwali lights to Mashramani parades. My connection to the diaspora is also strong; I love hearing stories from fellow Guyanese living abroad, who share a piece of home through their journeys and contributions, reminding us that no matter where we are, we carry our culture in our hearts.
