Hello! My name is Totarām Thakram, and I’m proud to call Essequibo my home. As a mason, I have a deep appreciation for the craftsmanship involved in creating beautiful spaces that reflect our vibrant culture. Living in the 2190 New Housing Scheme in Pomeroon-Supenaam allows me to be part of a community that embraces the rich heritage of Guyana, from our delicious pepperpot and cook-up rice to the lush landscapes that define our land.
Growing up in Guyana, I have witnessed the resilience and strength of our people. Our culture is a blend of influences, and it’s not uncommon to hear the rhythms of chutney and reggae echoing through the neighborhoods, especially during festivals. As I work on various construction projects, I strive to not only build physical structures but also foster a sense of unity among my neighbors, which I believe is essential for our community's growth.
Even as a part of the diaspora, I remain deeply connected to my roots. I cherish the moments spent sharing stories with fellow Guyanese, whether it’s reminiscing about the breathtaking beauty of the Kaieteur Falls or discussing the aspirations we have for our homeland. We are a proud people, and though challenges exist, I believe in the potential of our country and the spirit of our community to create a better future together.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
