Hello! My name is Trevor Arthur, and I hail from the vibrant community of Coast Lime Dam in West Field, nestled in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. As a devoted labourer, I take pride in my work and my contributions to the local economy. Growing up surrounded by the lush greenery and rich cultural heritage of Guyana, I developed a deep appreciation for our traditions, especially the joyful celebrations around Phagwah (Holi) and Mashramani, where we come together to celebrate our diverse roots.
Food is a huge part of my life and identity. From the mouthwatering taste of pepperpot to the sweet delight of metemgee, every dish tells a story of our ancestors and their journey. I often reminisce about the bustling markets in Georgetown and the harmony of sounds—locals chatting in Creole, the sizzle of fish being cooked fresh, and the vibrant colors of fruits and vegetables that remind me of our beautiful landscape.
As part of the Guyanese diaspora, I am proud to connect with fellow Guyanese around the world. Our shared experiences and the struggles we face only strengthen our bond, whether it’s through our music, dance, or simply sharing a laugh over stories of home.
