Hello! I’m Tribanie Bridgebassie, a proud farmer from Capoey on the Essequibo Coast. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes of Pomeroon-Supenaam, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the fertile soil that yields our beloved crops, including the essential rice and sugarcane that are staples in our diet. Here in Guyana, food is more than sustenance; it’s a celebration of our diverse cultures, from the spicy pepperpot to the sweet cassava bread shared during family gatherings.
Living in Guyana comes with its challenges, and like many, I’ve experienced the complexities of safety and community. While Georgetown may have its struggles, places like Essequibo remind us of the beauty and resilience of our people. I often find solace by the Pomeroon River, where the tranquility of nature provides a much-needed escape from daily life. It’s this connection to my roots that I cherish most.
