Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and colorful festivals of Guyana, I carry a piece of my homeland wherever I go. Whether it’s sharing a plate of mouthwatering pepperpot during family gatherings or reminiscing about the lively celebrations of Mashramani, these experiences shape my teaching philosophy. As I connect with students, I often share stories from my childhood in the Lower Pom River region, reminding them of our shared identity and the importance of cultural pride.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I understand the challenges and triumphs that come with living away from home. My journey has taken me far, but my heart remains anchored in Guyana.
