Hello! I’m Varunie Jairam, a proud resident of the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant cultures of my homeland, I have a deep appreciation for our rich heritage. From the sweet aroma of pepperpot simmering on the stove during Christmas to the rhythmic sounds of chutney music at celebrations, each experience has shaped who I am today.
Living in the heart of Pomeroon, I cherish the beauty of our rivers and the warmth of our community. I often reminisce about the lush scenery of Lower Pom River, a true Land of Promise that showcases the richness of our natural resources and the resilience of our people. Though I may now be based in an unknown location, my connection to Guyana remains strong, and I actively engage with the diaspora to highlight our culture and traditions.
As I navigate life and career, I carry with me the spirit of Guyana—whether it’s sharing a story about life on the Akawini Creek or exchanging recipes for our beloved dishes with fellow Guyanese around the globe.
