As a resident of Johanna, I have a deep appreciation for our local heritage, where the essence of our mixed roots—whether it be Amerindian, African, or Indo-Guyanese—shines through in our traditions and celebrations. Our communities may sometimes face misconceptions, especially in the diaspora, but we continually uplift each other, showcasing the talent and warmth that Guyanese people are known for.
