Hello! I’m Vaughn Johnson, a passionate photographer based in the vibrant heart of Demerara, specifically at Beau Voisin Canal No. 1 in the Essequibo Islands-West Demerara region. My work captures the essence of Guyana — from the lush greenery of our rainforests to the mesmerizing sunsets over the Pomeroon River. Being Guyanese, I’m deeply connected to my roots, and I take pride in our rich culture, from our beloved dishes like pepperpot and cook-up rice to the warm hospitality that we extend to visitors. Guyana’s unique blend of cultures is reflected in my photography, which often features celebrations of our festivals, such as Phagwah and Diwali. I also cherish the connections with the Guyanese diaspora; no matter where we are in the world, we carry a piece of our homeland with us, whether it’s through our music, food, or stories.
