Hello! My name is Vedawattie Persaud, and I am a dedicated teacher from the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region, specifically residing on the Garden Essequibo Coast. With a passion for education and community upliftment, I strive to empower the next generation with knowledge and critical thinking skills. Growing up in a country rich in diversity and culture, I've always been inspired by the vibrant traditions of my homeland, from the sweet aroma of pepperpot shared during family gatherings to the lively rhythms of our local music that echo through the streets.
Living here, I have seen the immense potential our land holds, as well as the challenges we face. Despite the booming economy driven by oil, many Guyanese continue to struggle with poverty, and unfortunately, the disparities are palpable. As a teacher, my goal is to contribute positively to this narrative by nurturing young minds and encouraging them to rise above these challenges. I believe in the power of education to transform lives and communities, and I remain committed to making a difference in the lives of my students.
When I'm not in the classroom, you might find me exploring the lush landscapes of the Pomeroon River, or enjoying a plate of fresh cook-up rice at a local eatery. I also value connections with the Guyanese diaspora, sharing stories and experiences that remind us of our roots, especially as many of us navigate life far from home. Together, we can celebrate our culture and advocate for the positive changes we wish to see in Guyana.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
