Hello! I'm Vereta Prince, a proud resident of Essequibo, specifically from the beautiful Hydronie on the East Bank of Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant cultures of Guyana has shaped who I am today. Whether it’s enjoying the peaceful vibes of Portion Manawarin or reminiscing about family gatherings filled with roti and curry, my heart remains deeply connected to my roots.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I’ve had the privilege of experiencing life across different cultures, yet nothing compares to the warmth of home. I often find myself reminiscing about the Kairimap River and the lively conversations about life back in Guyana. Those moments remind me of the resilience and spirit of our people, whether it's someone saying "is we own" or sharing delicious guinep during the summer months. These shared experiences keep the essence of our homeland alive, no matter where I am.
Though I now navigate life outside of Guyana, I carry the essence of my upbringing with me. From the stunning natural regions filled with unique flora and fauna to the rich flavors of our local cuisine, I embrace every aspect of my heritage. I believe in celebrating our culture and sharing our stories, as it connects us all—whether we find ourselves in NYC or back home in the serene surroundings of Essequibo.
