Hello! I’m Veron Sookmangal, a proud resident of West Coast Demerara, nestled in the beautiful Essequibo Islands-West Demerara region. Growing up here, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the rich cultural heritage that Guyana has to offer. From indulging in delicious dishes like pepperpot and cook-up rice to exploring the stunning landscapes around the Essequibo River, my roots run deep in this vibrant community. As many in the diaspora often share, there's a unique warmth in the spirit of the Guyanese people—something that resonates with both locals and those of us living abroad.
My journey has also taken me through the challenges and triumphs of life in Guyana. Like many others, I believe that while we face obstacles, the resilience of our people can drive change and improvement. I often reflect on the words shared by my fellow Guyanese in the diaspora who express a desire for our homeland to thrive. It's heartening to see how we connect over common experiences, whether it’s through shared memories of our childhood streets or the communal joy during Mashramani festivities.
I’m committed to fostering a sense of community, both locally and globally. Whether participating in discussions about our nation’s future or sharing the realities of life here, I hope to contribute positively to our collective narrative. As we navigate our paths, let’s celebrate the beauty of Guyana together and support one another in this journey. Thank you for being part of this story!
