Greetings! My name is Vickram Persaud, and I proudly hail from the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Nestled along the lush banks of the Pomeroon River, my home is a place where the rhythm of life pulses through the rich soil and flowing waters. Growing up in this beautiful area has given me a deep appreciation for our unique culture, from the tantalizing flavors of cook-up rice and pepperpot to the vibrant traditions celebrated during Mashramani. These experiences have shaped who I am and instilled a strong sense of connection to my roots, no matter where I may find myself.
In recent years, I've witnessed the incredible progress our beloved Guyana has made, and it fills me with pride. As I engage with the diaspora community, I cherish the stories we share—whether it's reminiscing about the Lower Pomeroon River or recalling the laughter sparked by our attempts at imitating each other's accents. Despite being far from home, the spirit of our people is alive in every conversation, reminding me that we carry a piece of Guyana within us, no matter the distance.
