Hello! My name is Vivian Joaquin, and I am proud to call Coast 56, Lima Sands in Essequibo my home. As a miner, I spend my days working hard in the rich lands of Pomeroon-Supenaam, where the beauty of our surrounding nature inspires me every day. Growing up in a community that is deeply connected to the rivers, I have developed a strong appreciation for our local culture, especially the flavors of our traditional dishes like pepperpot and cook-up rice. There’s nothing quite like enjoying a plate of freshly caught fish from the Pomeroon River, shared with family and friends.
Guyana is a land of incredible diversity, and I cherish the friendships I have forged with fellow Guyanese and the diaspora all around the world. Whether we are reminiscing about the vibrant celebrations of Mashramani or discussing the exciting developments in our economy, it's a reminder of our resilience and spirit. As many of us navigate the challenges of everyday life, including the complexities of our political landscape, we continue to uplift each other and find pride in our heritage.
As I venture through both the lush landscapes and the rich cultural fabric of our nation, I remain optimistic about the future.
