Hello! My name is Vonda Jones-Venture, and I proudly call the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region my home. Living on the Coast 277 Public Road, I have the unique opportunity to immerse myself in the vibrant culture of Guyana. As a housewife, I cherish the role of nurturing my family while also keeping alive our rich traditions, from preparing delicious dishes like pepperpot and cook-up rice to celebrating our diverse festivals, which highlight our unique blend of Indo-Guyanese, Afro-Guyanese, and Indigenous cultures.
The picturesque landscapes surrounding my home, including the serene banks of the Pomeroon River, remind me of the importance of community and connection. I often reflect on the challenges our beloved nation faces, as many of us strive for progress while battling issues like governance and resource management. However, I am hopeful for a brighter future as I witness the perseverance of both those living in Guyana and the diaspora, who continue to support our homeland from afar.
Through this journey, I remain committed to sharing the essence of our Guyanese culture, whether it's through storytelling, cooking, or fostering connections with fellow Guyanese, both near and far. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
