I often reminisce about evenings spent at the Essequibo River, watching the sunset paint the sky while sharing stories with fellow fishermen. Although we face issues such as crime and corruption, which some say make our beautiful country a "garbage dump," we remain hopeful and work diligently to make our lives better. As diaspora voices highlight the complexities of our homeland, I stand proud of my roots and the strength of our people.
