Greetings! My name is Waneta Hunte, and I am a proud teacher residing in the vibrant community of East Zorg on the Essequibo Coast. Rooted in the rich cultural heritage of Guyana, I have dedicated my career to nurturing the minds of our youth, instilling in them the values of knowledge, respect, and resilience. Growing up surrounded by the diverse sounds of the Pomeroon-Supenaam region, I am inspired by our local traditions, from the sweet aroma of cook-up rice wafting through the air to the vibrant festivals that celebrate our unique Guyanese identity.
As a descendant of the Sharples family, I carry with me a legacy of achievement and service, much like my grandfather, who was an engineer, and my great-uncle, who served as a judge. This connection to my family's history fuels my passion as an educator, as I strive to empower my students with the tools they need to succeed. I cherish the spirited discussions with my fellow Guyanese, both at home and abroad, sharing stories that bridge our experiences and foster a sense of unity, whether it's exchanging recipes for a perfect pepperpot or reminiscing about the beauty of the Kaieteur Falls.
