About WHITNEY CHARLES SMITH

About Whitney Smith

Hello! I’m Whitney Smith, a proud Guyanese labourer from the picturesque Lower Pomeroon River, specifically Kamadankoro Wakapau. Growing up surrounded by the vibrant culture of Guyana, I have immersed myself in our rich traditions, from the tantalizing dishes that bring families together, like the famed pepperpot and metemgee, to the lively cricket matches that unite us as Caribbean people. Our community thrives on togetherness and resilience, much like the mighty Pomeroon River that flows through our land.

As a dedicated worker, I believe in the power of hard work and the importance of nurturing the relationships that bind us as a people. Having roots deeply planted in this beautiful country, I carry with me the warmth and spirit of my ancestors. The stories of our history—like the resolution of the land dispute with Venezuela at The Hague in 1836—remind us of our strength and unity. I cherish my connections with family and friends, both here in Guyana and within the diaspora, sharing experiences that celebrate our heritage.

Whether it's reminiscing about the beloved Sybil's, where my family has gathered for decades to enjoy some of the best local cuisine, or exploring the breathtaking landscapes from Waramuri Island to the bustling streets of Georgetown, I am grateful for the opportunities that life in Guyana has presented. My goal is to contribute positively to my community and to keep our traditions alive for future generations.
