Greetings! My name is Calvin Williams, and I proudly call Baramita in the Barima-Waini region of beautiful Guyana my home. Growing up enveloped in the vibrant culture and lush landscapes of our country has shaped my identity. From the rhythmic beats of our folk music to the rich flavors of our cuisine, like the beloved pepperpot and roti that remind many of us, including those in the diaspora, of family gatherings and heartfelt conversations.
As a resident of Baramita, I cherish the natural beauty that surrounds us, from the majestic Pakaraima Mountains to the serene rivers that sustain our communities. While I recognize that we face challenges, such as environmental concerns and the need for better mental health support, I remain hopeful. Engaging with individuals both locally and in the diaspora fosters a spirit of collaboration aimed at driving positive change in our beloved homeland.
