About JULIANA WILLIAMS

About Julianna Williams

Hello! I’m Julianna Williams, a proud farmer from the beautiful village of Baramita, located in the Barima-Waini region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush greenery of our land, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the rich agricultural practices that sustain our vibrant communities. From planting cassava and bananas to nurturing the fragrant spices that adorn our traditional dishes, farming is not just my occupation; it’s a way of life that connects me to my roots and my people.

As a Guyanese, I carry with me the flavors of home—whether it’s the sweet aroma of cinnamon in my bakes, which I proudly defend against culinary critics, or the joy of sharing a meal with family and friends. I believe in the spirit of community, much like the lively conversations one can overhear at the markets in Georgetown or the warmth of laughter that resonates during our vibrant festivals. Even though some may jest about our beloved G-Town being a “garbage town,” I know that it holds a unique charm that brings us together, reminding us of the resilience and strength of our culture.

Living in Baramita, I also cherish the connection with the Guyanese diaspora. The stories and experiences shared by our people abroad keep the flame of our culture alive. Whether it’s a comment about the state of affairs back home or a simple acknowledgment of our culinary traditions, these connections remind me that no matter where we are in the world, we carry a piece of Guyana within us. I look forward to continuing my journey, nurturing my land, and celebrating the beautiful tapestry of our heritage.
