About LEAH WILLIAMS

About Leah Williams

Hello! I’m Leah Williams, a proud farmer hailing from the beautiful village of Baramita in the Barima-Waini region of Guyana. My roots run deep in this rich land, where the lush greenery meets the vibrant spirit of our local communities. Every day, I cultivate not just crops, but a connection to our heritage, embracing the flavors and traditions that make Guyana unique. From the sweetness of ripe plantains to the hearty dishes like pepperpot enjoyed during our festive gatherings, I believe that food is a bridge to our culture and a way to share our stories.

As I work the fields, I’m often reminded of the warmth and resilience of my fellow Guyanese. It’s the people that make this land truly special, from Lower Pomeroon to the heart of Georgetown. Whenever there’s a gathering, whether it’s a local market or a community festival, the vibrant energy is palpable—there’s always “nuff food fi feed both Guyana’s” as we celebrate our diverse heritage, blending influences from our Indigenous roots, African traditions, and the flavors introduced by our East Indian and European ancestors.

Though I may be nestled in the serene landscapes of Baramita, I cherish the connections I’ve formed with the diaspora. The stories shared by those who have ventured far from home, yet hold Guyana close to their hearts, inspire me. I look forward to welcoming visitors to experience our fresh produce, the beauty of our pristine rainforests, and the genuine hospitality that defines our nation. As we say here, “Welcome to Guyana!”
